THE METABOLIC SYNDROME
If you have been struggling to find out what is the Metabolic Syndrome (also known as Syndrome X) and how you should deal with it this post will be of great help to you.
This is because it will explain what is the Metabolic Syndrome and also how to deal with it.
Whether you are practicing The Ketogenic Lifestyle for Healthy Longevity this information is very important for you to understand since the Metabolic Syndrome has become increasingly common.
HISTORY OF METABOLIC SYNDROME
In the later part of the 1900s, it was Ruderman and Reaven that showed that Insulin Resistance might be fundamental to Metabolic Syndrome which means a constellation of obesity-related metabolic derangements predisposing one to Type-2 Diabetes and Cardiovascular Disease.
Since that time awareness of the importance and dangers of Metabolic Syndrome has grown.
Many in the medical community now tend to think of the Metabolic Syndrome as being the most important medical problem of the 21st century.
In the US alone, 1/3 of the adults have Metabolic Syndrome.
WHAT IS THE METABOLIC SYNDROME
Per Wikipedia: “Metabolic syndrome, sometimes known by other names, is a clustering of at least three of the five following medical conditions:
- central obesity,
- high blood pressure,
- high blood sugar,
- high serum triglycerides, and
- low serum high-density lipoprotein (HDL).”
Belly Fat/Visceral Fat receives so much attention because too much of it is considered unattractive if much of any of it is present in your body.
However, for health reasons, this is not the most important reason to monitor Belly Fat
The chief reason belly Fat is important is that it is a window into the status of your Metabolic Status.
Further, it is the primary indication of Obesity.
An excessive amount of Belly Fat/Visceral Fat is often referred to as a “Pot Bell” or a “Beer Belly” which visually can easily be recognized and used as a strong indication that you are in all probability is suffering from Metabolic Syndrome.
The state of your Belly/Visceral Fat and Metabolic Syndrome are linked.
* Accompanying the condition of Metabolic Syndrome is what many believe is the predisposing condition of excess body fat around the waist.
IMPORTANCE OF EXCESS BODY FAT AROUND THE WAIST
If you have excessive Belly Fat/Pot Belly/Beer Belly then you are suffering from Metabolic Syndrome.
And conversely, if you have Metabolic Syndrome then you have excessive Belly Fat/Pot Belly/Beer Belly.
* Therefore, if you get rid of your excess belly fat then you get rid of your Metabolic Syndrome and the harm it causes.
CAUSES OF METABOLIC SYNDROME
Metabolic syndrome is closely linked to obesity and inactivity.
It’s also linked to a condition called Insulin Resistance.
Normally, your digestive system breaks down the foods you eat into sugar.
Insulin is a hormone made by your pancreas that helps sugar enter your cells to be used as fuel.
In people with insulin resistance, cells don’t respond normally to insulin and glucose can’t enter the cells as easily.
As a result, your blood sugar levels rise even as your body churns out more and more Insulin to try to lower your blood sugar.
The harmful effects of Insulin Resistance are that your pancreas becomes overworked to produce Insulin such that it can fail to produce more Insulin and also when high levels are present it will prevent you from burning your belly your fat for energy as your belly continues to grow.
DO NOT DENY THE HARMFUL EFFECTS OF EXCESSIVE BELLY FAT FOR METABOLIC SYNDROME
Metabolic Syndrome, also known as Syndrome X, refers to a grouping of metabolic conditions that can lead to a number of life-threatening conditions.
Metabolic Syndrome affects more than one out of every three adults in the U.S.
Some of the dangerous effects of Metabolic Syndrome include:
- Insulin Resistance,
- Hypertension (high blood pressure),
- Hyperglycemia (high blood sugar),
- Abnormal cholesterol,
- Increased risk for clotting, and
- Increased circulating Inflammatory proteins.
Metabolic Syndrome presents you with some very serious life-threatening risks.
Plus those with Metabolic Syndrome are at least at increased risk of:
- Type-2 Diabetes
- Heart disease
- Arterial disease
- Clotting risks
- Breast cancer
- Prostate cancer
- Liver disease
- Liver cancer
- Colorectal cancer
- Increased Inflammatory Proteins
KETO FOR DEALING WITH EXCESSIVE BELLY FAT AND THE METABOLIC SYNDROME
With the Ketogenic Diet your energy is derived from fat vs glucose, and so your body does not need to produce Insulin.
If hungry on Keto, your body can consume your belly fat when your body is short of energy.
When you are not on keto but running on glucose, you have an Insulin response that keeps you from using stored Belly Fat.
The effect of this harmful Insulin response is two-fold:
- it prevents you from using up your Belly Fat for energy, and
- it causes you to be hungry and to consume more food for energy, part of which the Insulin drives into your belly for storage as fat.
The Keto Diet is the best way to lose Belly Fat fast since it keeps you in what is referred to as Ketosis.
For more information on, you can visit How To Amazingly Lose Belly Fat Fast, With No Hunger?
The Ketogenic Diet derives almost all of its energy from fat since it is not running on carbohydrates/sugars.
The ideal desired intake ratio of the Keto diet is:
- 80% fat,
- 15% protein, and
- 5% carbohydrate.
When your consumption of food produces less energy than is needed, your body can easily go to its primary Belly Fat Bank where it has stored energy as fat in the belly.
SUPPLEMENTS FOR AN ENERGY BOOST ON KETO
While you are on Keto to get rid of and consume your Belly Fat you might want to use an energy boost supplement that will not stop you from burning belly fat and take you out of Ketosis.
Three great products you should consider are:
– MCT OIL: MCT Oil, standing for medium-chain triglycerides, is a short-chain carbon derivative derived from Coconut oil.
Since it is short-chained it does not have to be processed by the liver.
Thus, it goes directly into your bloodstream to produce much energy fast.
It makes a great additive to your morning Caveman Coffee.
-EXOGENOUS KETONE CHOCOLATE POWDER: When much extra energy is called for while on your Keto Diet, Exogenous Ketones is the answer for you.
Acetoacetate, This class of Ketone bodies refers to the three water-soluble Ketones which are:
- β-hydroxybutyrate [βHB], and
If this is your choice you will find that the KETO MAX provides an excellent choice and price per serving.
However, many prefer the convenience, purity (no Stevia), and ease of taking Exogenous Ketones in pill form.
MONITORING YOUR PROGRESS
When you are fighting to reverse and/or prevent the Metabolic Syndrome by being in a state of Ketosis it is important to measure your progress correctly.
The key to evaluating your progress in fighting Belly Fat and the Metabolic Syndrome is simply using a Measuring Tape for measurement of your waist size taken at your navel and then dividing by one’s height.
This seems to be true for both men and women.
The result of the resultant calculation should not be more than 50% for optimum health and low disease risk.
As an example calculation, if you are six feet tall and has a waist size measurement of let’s say 40”, then the resultant calculation would be 40”/72”=55.5%.
Thus, since a score of 50% is considered to be the highest health number that you should have for optimum health, the hypothetical score of 55.5% means you have excessive Belly/Visceral Fat.
Whereas, a calculation of 34” waist divided by 72” height=47.2%, which would be a very healthy indication.
At a score of 50% or less you are considered to be at a very low risk of heart disease or stroke.
You are deemed to enter the Metabolic Syndrome danger zone when your waist circumference is at least 35″/89 cm or greater for women, and 40″/102 cm or greater for men.
HOW TO MONITOR YOUR STATE OF KETOSIS WHEN FIGHTING THE METABOLIC SYNDROME
When you make a decision to get control of your Belly Fat and to either prevent you from the ravages of the Metabolic Syndrome by going to the Ketogenic Lifestyle, then you need to have good monitoring of your condition.
If you do not have good monitoring then you are just ” flying in the blind”.
There are two ways for you to monitor your state of ketosis, one of which can be used temporarily and one that can be used permanently.
These two monitoring methods are:
1. KETONE URINE TESTING
Initially, you might want to ADD TO CART the cost-effective Smackfat Ketone Strips for monitoring and tracking progress on a day to day basis, which by clicking on will take you to view and/or buy for a very low price for 100 strips.
These Ketone strips measure by urine and will give Ketone test strip results.
Moreover, these Smackfat Ketone Strips are inexpensive and by far the least expensive initial test method.
Note, however, as you continue with the Ketogenic Lifestyle your urine chemistry will begin to change such that Ketone Strip testing of your urine will NOT be reliable.
So why waste money on something that will become non-reliable if you can get permanent monitoring?
And, it does not monitor your important glucose values.
2. KETONE BLOOD TESTING
Yes, I want the Keto-Mojo for the most accurate and most reliable permanent Gold Standard testing device for monitoring my Ketones and Glucose, then you should grab this for one’s Ketogenic Diet monitoring, which is the amazing KETO-MOJO Blood Ketone and Glucose Testing Meter Kit while still ON SALE.
