THE FAST WEIGHT LOSS DIET QUEST
If you have been searching for the fastest fast weight loss diet the information provided herein is your answer.
As you will see this is the Cheetah (61mph) of the fast weight loss diets and also a diet with which you can easily follow whether you are now practicing the Keto Diet For Health And Longevity.
WHY A FAST WEIGHT LOSS DIET
The reason for a fast weight loss diet is not only your appearance and self-esteem but also that it is critical for your health and longevity.
The parameters for needing to lose weight are not the BMI but your waist measurement at your navel which should not exceed 1/2 your height.
This is because the BMI does not take into account muscle mass as this is a flawed measurement as can be evidenced by the fact that most of the NFL players would fail this test but are physical specimens.
In other words, you should use a tape measure for determining if you need to lose belly fat.
The goal to strive for is a waist measurement of no more than 50% of your height.
This will give you an optimum waist to height ratio.
For instance, if you are 6 feet tall (72″) then your waist measurement should not be more than 36″.
The dire consequence of having to lose belly fat is that you are flirting with the Metabolic Syndrome if, in fact, you do not already have it.
WHAT IS THE METABOLIC SYNDROME
Per Wikipedia: “Metabolic syndrome, sometimes known by other names, is a clustering of at least three of the five following medical conditions:
- central obesity,
- high blood pressure,
- high blood sugar,
- high serum triglycerides, and
- low serum high-density lipoprotein (HDL).”
However, for health reasons, this is not the most important reason to monitor Belly Fat.
The chief reason belly Fat is important is that it is a window into the state of your Metabolic Status.
Further, it is the primary indication of Obesity.
An excessive amount of Belly Fat/Visceral Fat is often referred to as a “Pot Bell” or a “Beer Belly” which visually can easily be recognized and used as a strong indication that you are in all probability is suffering from Metabolic Syndrome.
The state of your Belly/Visceral Fat and Metabolic Syndrome are linked.
* Accompanying the condition of Metabolic Syndrome is what many believe is the predisposing condition of excess body fat around the waist.
WHY CALORIC RESTRICTION DOES NOT WORK
A Calorie is the amount of heat needed to raise the temperature of one gram of water by one degree Celsius.
And, Calorie counting is simply the process of adding up the number of Calories that one consumes to reach a total.
The Calorie counting method for losing weight is to consume a total number of Calories that is less than that of the total number of Calories one is expected to burn and/or consume in a period/day.
The Calorie counting goal and method is to consume fewer Calories in a day than one burns/uses.
Calorie counting to lose weight on the surface makes sense but Caloric restriction just doesn’t work.
Let’s assume that one is burning 2,000 calories per day.
And, a pound of fat is 3,500 Calories.
So one could calculate that if one only consumes 1,500 Calories per day then one will lose 500 Calories of fat per day.
Thus, in one week one will lose 3,500 Calories which equates to 1 pound of fat lost per week.
Or, if it worked, Caloric restriction would result in a loss of 4.3 pounds per month or a loss of 223 pounds per year.
So Calorie counting with a small reduction sounds simple, so why does it not work?
The answer as to why it does not work lies in the fact that your body is very smart and strives to maintain a level of homeostasis.
Homeostasis is defined as the tendency toward a relatively stable equilibrium between interdependent elements, especially as maintained by physiological processes.
In other words, the body will adapt to changes it encounters to maintain a state of equilibrium.
Thus, your body will lower its metabolism to adjust for the decrease in Calories it is receiving such that the body will now be burning 1,500 Calories per day.
Even if one tries to increase one’s caloric burn through strenuous exercise, the body will try to adapt by slowing its metabolism and caloric burn.
Just look at the disastrous effects of the participants on The Biggest Loser show which had to be canceled since almost all participants returned to their original or higher weights.
And further, it was reported that participants had to be given stimulants to try to maintain their metabolism.
In addition to Calorie counting not working due to the body lowering its metabolism to match caloric intake, it is important to note that every time one eats anything one’s normal body response is to increase its Insulin response to take care of the ingested calories.
Your body will increase its Insulin response by 5 to 7 times that of your Resting Insulin Level.
And Insulin with its counterpart Insulin Resistance is the bad guy when it comes to weight loss.
Simply, insulin blocks one’s body from accessing its fat for energy and thus maintains one’s fat storage while at the same time causing a hunger response.
So, Caloric reduction is flawed due to the body’s accommodating metabolic reduction plus the body’s insulin increase each time food is introduced.
In short, Calorie counting is “starvation” by another name.
YOUR EASIEST FAST WEIGHT LOSS DIET
The easiest fast weight loss diet is without a doubt a two-fold combination.
The easiest fast weight loss diet is comprised of a combination of:
- Fasting, and
- The Ketogenic Diet
What is fasting and its importance is explained following as are what is Keto and its importance for your weight loss.
WHAT IS FASTING
An absolute fast or dry fasting is normally defined as abstinence from all food and liquid for a defined period.
Other fasts may be partially restrictive, limiting only particular foods or substances, or be intermittent.
Intermittent fasting, also known as intermittent energy restriction, is an umbrella term for various meal timing schedules that cycle between voluntary fasting and non-fasting over a given period.”
For instance, an Intermittent Fast of 16 hours would mean fasting from 8 pm the night prior to the next day at 12 noon.
And, an Intermittent Fast of 22 hours would be a fast from 8 pm the night prior to 6 pm the day following.
The advantage of fasting is three-fold and is very important for your fast weight loss program.
The Key Advantages It Offers You Are:
1. FASTING INCREASES YOUR METABOLISM
Unlike caloric restriction, which lowers your metabolism and thus your caloric burn, Fasting increases your metabolism and caloric burn.
This is the opposite of what happens with a caloric restricted diet which decreases your metabolism and thus prevents a caloric burn deficit.
2. FASTING DRASTICALLY LOWERS YOUR FASTING INSULIN
Also, of great value is that Fasting lowers your Fasting Insulin Level.
This is very important since when you eat something your Insulin level in your body increases dramatically by a factor of 5 to 7 times.
For instance, if your fasting insulin level is 50 then your insulin level can go up to 300 which is very unhealthy for many reasons, but if your fasting insulin level is 5 then when you eat your insulin level would just go up to a very healthy level of 30.
Everyone has a Fasting Insulin level even when fasting.
A Fasting Insulin level is your insulin level after at least an 8 hour fast.
If you have excessive belly fat your fasting level is high.
The beautiful thing about fasting is it lowers your Fasting Insulin Level!
An all-day fast lowers fasting insulin by 70% and a 24 hr fast lowers it by 50% and is much easier to do routinely.
It is important to note that a thin person can have a fasting insulin level of 5 and after eating it goes up 6x = 30.
Whereas a big belly person can have a fasting insulin level of 50 and after eating it goes up 6x=300!
Simplistically you can think of the Insulin hormone as your belly fat hormone as the more insulin equates to more belly fat.
3. FASTING BURNS FAT
Fasting burns fat and not muscle.
Just look at the immensely strong bear, for instance, that fasts all winter but remains very strong.
And animals even like the Cheetah fast for shorter periods but are immensely strong.
Likewise, our cavemen ancestors during their fasting periods, when they did not have any food, remained very strong and lean with increased metabolism and adrenalin which aided them in their hunting for scarce food .
WHY INTERMITTENT FASTING
The advantage of Intermittent fasting of either 16 or 22 hours is that it greatly lowers your fasting insulin level up to 70% of that which would occur with a complete daily fast.
So this is very advantageous since it is simple and just requires you to do nothing.
You can still drink water, water with apple cider vinegar, coffee and tea during your fast.
And it encompasses your sleep time which is a large part of your fast time.
WHAT IS KETO
Generally, ketosis occurs when the body is metabolizing fat at a high rate and, converting fatty acids into ketones, where one is burning ketones for fuel rather than glucose.
If it were not for the fact that diseases such as obesity, heart problems, artery disease, diabetes, and cancer, to mention just a few, were not on the increase now, then there would be no reason to consider the Ketogenic Diet/Lifestyle.
The Ketogenic Diet is merely reverting to our ancestors’ diet of good healthy fats and protein while greatly reducing refined sugars and other carbohydrates!
The desired targeted ideal Ketogenic percentage for fats, protein and carbohydrates is:
- 80% fats,
- 15% protein and
- 5% good carbohydrates.
* Studies have shown that carbohydrate restriction by itself can increase your lifespan by 20%!
It is especially important to note that too much protein causes an unwanted insulin/glucose response. So one should not have more than about 6 ounces of meat per meal while on the Ketogenic diet.
For more detailed information on the Ketogenic Diet itself, please refer to the key Ketogenic Recipes, Foods And Supplements For Beginners post.
Per the world-famous Cleveland Clinic on Keto “When you do this (Keto), interesting things happen:
- Your metabolism speeds up.
- Your hunger goes away.
- Your muscle mass increases.
- Your blood pressure and heart disease risk profile improve.”
WHY KETO WITH FASTING
For many hundreds of thousands of years our Cavemen and Cavewomen ancestors, whose DNA we inherited, hunted and lived on prey consisting of saturated fat and protein.
At the top of the list is one’s diet which brings us to discuss the Ketogenic Diet also better referred to here, as the Ketogenic Lifestyle…as you should consider adopting it for life or you will revert to a Yo-Yo syndrome.
It is important to note that our Homo Sapien Ancestors, who existed as hunters for 200,000 years BC, did not even begin cultivating crops until about 11,000 BC.
This time of 11,000 BC was shortly after the Ice Age, which started about 2.6 Million years ago, ended in about 11,700 BC.
Thus, by 11,700 BC, our DNA was completely established well before the start of any crop cultivation.
These Cavemen and Cavewomen were very strong, lean and fast so as to catch their prey.
Just try to picture a fat/obese Caveman on the hunt with a spear trying to catch an antelope or deer.
Additionally, these Cavemen were only usually fortunate to catch just enough food for one meal a day which meant they fasted intermittently for about 20 hours a day…later referred to herein as “Intermittent Fasting”.
These Cavemen and Cavewomen did not get up in the morning and have Breakfast of Champions with sugar and milk and Pop-Tarts.
Furthermore, the Keto Diet goes well with your Intermittent Fast because the Keto diet does not interrupt Ketosis and Keto keeps you from getting hungry because you are continuing to eat your belly fat for energy while you are on you fast.
Thus, the Keto Diet makes it very easy for you to fast since the fast is continuing to burn your belly fat for energy without hunger.
In other words, fasting with Keto as the fast breaker does not interrupt your fat burning as does a high carb diet which will greatly increase your Insulin response.
GOOD FASTING BREAKERS
When you have completed your fasting routine it is important to have your body continue running on ketones.
This can be easily accomplished by following the Keto diet without resorting to gaining energy from carbohydrates.
