Why is Blood Pressure Important?

When on The Ketogenic Diet or otherwise, one should have a good understanding of why is Blood Pressure important and its strong relationship to one’s overall Longevity.
One’s Blood Pressure is a very important in relation to one’s longevity outlook. It is also an important disease alarm signaling tool. This is due to its ability to point out the presence of an underlying disease or unhealthy condition.

Blood Pressure measurement is converntionally obtained from two separate sound readings through a stethoscope on ones brachial artery taken visually from a pressure cuff indicator which is around one’s left bicep. 1.Systolic pressure.
The high number in a blood pressure reading is the amount of pressure your heart generates when pumping blood through your arteries to the rest of your body.
2. Diastolic Blood Pressure
The low number Is inferred to be the residual pressure in one’s arterial system when the heart relaxes. This number in a blood pressure reading refers to the amount of pressure in your arteries when your heart is at rest between beats.
3. Pulse Pressure
Is the differential pressure calculated by subtracting the Diastolic Pressure from the Systolic BP pressure. For instance 120 Systolic-80 Diastolic=a 40 Pulse Pressure.

The “Normal Blood Pressure Readings” are somewhat arbitary as they vary from time to time and from country to country.
The latest standard by The Joint National Committee 8 Guidelines for the Management of Hypertension in Adults in the general population, is that pharmacologic treatment should be initiated when blood pressure is 150/90 mm Hg or higher in adults 60 years and older. And it should be initated at140/90 mm Hg or higher in adults younger than 60 years. The previous guidelines by The Joint National Committee 7 for nomal was that 120/80 BP was “normal”.

One’s blood pressure reading is supposed to be taken with one seated, rested and with the BP Cuff on one’s left bicep at the same height as the heart. If this is not the positioning when BP is taken, then the reading is not valid for comparative statistical results
-Rest State:
Regarding “rest”, the only dependable and reproducible state is when one has been seated for 10 minutes, relaxed and with very deep belly breathing.
If taken in a Drs. office after one has been in 30 minutes of traffic, gone through the aggravating Doctor reception check in, rushed back to the Doctor’s office, and is concerned that one’s blood pressure reading might be too high, this is not a valid rested state.
-Bicep Size:
This a variable when Blood Pressure is taken with a bicep cuff. One’s bicep can vary all the way from a 120 pound woman to a 240 pound weight lifter. All the pressure readings are taken by compression of the bicep muscles to crush the underling artery. It is only logical to assume that the pressure on the biceps of the 240 pounder to crush one’s bicep tighter will be greater on the 240 pounder. The BP cuff must be the exact correct size for one’s bicep.
-Auditory sensitivity:
The sound sensitivity of the person or machine taking the blood pressure is a variable. This will affect the numbers subscribed to one’s blood pressure. Naturally, the more acute the sound sensitivity is of the person or device, the higher the Systolic blood pressure will be recorded and the lower the Diastolic BP will be recorded. And the higher the Pulse Pressure number will be recorded.
Drugs in one’s system have an effect.
-State of mind
Whether one is relaxed or in a state of stress has a big effect.
-Time of Day
Time of day should be constant.
Blood pressure is usually lowest at night and rises sharply on waking.
-Last meal

-Preparing for a Reading:
Avoid eating, drinking alcohol or caffeinated beverages, smoking, exercising or bathing for 30 minutes prior to taking a measurement. It is also best to rest for 15 minutes before starting the measurement. Avoid taking a measurement during stressful times. Take the measurement in a quiet place.

Regarding why is blood pressure important, it is that once Blood Pressure deviates from normal, one makes a big mistake if one does not recognize that such is a symptom should not to be ignored.
